In Conversation with Ruth Herbert

As the head partner at our Cirencester office Ruth Herbert has over 23 years experience at Wenn Townsend, of which 16 years are as a partner. Ruth works with a variety of clients in many different sectors but the commonality that is always remarked upon is how much Ruth genuinely cares for her clients and is willing to go above and beyond for them. To get to know Ruth better, we asked her a few questions about how she got to this point in her career and what motivates her in her role within the firm:

  1. What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy helping clients, this can be as simple as ensuring deadlines are met, preparing accounts & tax returns when clients do not know how to prepare themselves, or providing guidance on a business decision. I have great satisfaction knowing that a job is done well.
  2. What has been the defining moment in your career to date?
Becoming a partner of Wenn Townsend was a great honour. I felt that I was being recognised for the work that I had put into the firm and our clients. It was also a sign that I was being entrusted to carry on with the care of our clients together with looking after staff and fellow partners to ensure the continuation of the firm and its good name.
  3. Who would be the dream client?
All of our clients are different, and the variety is what appeals to me. I realise that some clients need their ‘hand holding’ with guidance every step of the way whilst others are experienced and come to me when they have specific business or taxation concerns. I am happy to help all clients.
  4. How would you want your colleagues or clients to describe you?
I am hard working and take great care of my clients. I often go the extra mile to satisfy clients’ needs.
  5. What do you most want to achieve in your career?
I am working hard to ensure the continuation of the firm, where staff are looked after and clients continue to receive the service which they have come to expect.
