In April Deborah Pluck, our Partnership Chairman, will be retiring. Having joined Wenn Townsend in 1980, Deborah became the first female partner of the firm in 1989. Throughout her career, Deborah has built strong relationships with her clients, with her expertise being in agriculture, estates, family trusts and charities. It is her experience and passion for the education sector which has been most evident, working as accountant, auditor and trustee for many different educational institutes. Over the years Deborah has been involved with both of her former schools, being the Chair of Governors at Wychwood School and honorary auditor of the Dragon School Sale and trustee of the Lynam Educational Fund. She has also been a member of the Council at Radley College for two decades.
She has used her understanding and knowledge to support the next generation of female professionals, helping to found and run the Oxfordshire Women’s Forum, a leading networking group for women. Since becoming the first female Chairman of Wenn Townsend, Deborah has championed her colleagues, overseeing several promotions, the addition of new partners and bolstering the workforce with new associates and members of the management team.
Replacing Deborah as Partnership Chairman is Tony Haines, who comments:
“Deborah is the epitome of Wenn Townsend. Often an unstoppable force, Deborah has always recognised the significance of her position as custodian of Oxford’s oldest accountancy firm and she is held in high esteem by those who have had the pleasure of working with her. As the first female partner and first female Chairman of the firm, Deborah has changed the course of Wenn Townsend’s history, something she, as indeed all of us, are incredibly proud of. We will miss having Deborah around the office and we wish her the best for her well-deserved retirement!”
From all at Wenn Townsend we thank Deborah for paving the way for her colleagues, contemporaries and future generations, may she have a happy and healthy retirement.
